Hey there, Shawn here. I’ve been sick for the past two weeks, but recently, im having trouble swallowing food and drinks. I’ve had mad headaches, and my mucous is all yellowish brown or reddish brown or both together. A lot of people at my school in the Palisades, California, have the same symptoms. Just yesterday i had a 101.2 degree fever. Does anyone know anything i can do to make the pain go away? I’ve tried Sudafed Severe Cold, but it had no effect, i’ve also tried tylenol, but im still in pain. Does anyone else have the same symptoms and is in the same pain that im in? Should i go see a doctor? Thank you for reading.
Lates.

Yes, you should see a doctor. Anytime you are sick for two weeks at a time and are having problems swallowing or breathing, you should see a doctor. They have stronger tools than you can buy in the store - they’ll fix you up!

The headache, mucus and fever all sound like a nice little sinus infection you’ve got going. They can start out, and often do, as viral infections and no antibiotic will treat it. You can only treat the symptoms by drinking a lot of fluids, getting more rest and trying to break up the mucus. Guaifenesin, the active ingredient in Mucinex and other over the counter drugs, is what you want for that. There isn’t enough of it in cold liquids to work, and recent studies have indicated that these liquids don’t really do anything for the cough. The alcohol in them might help you sleep, but that’s about it.
If it’s lasted longer than a couple of weeks and you’re experiencing fever and this sort of colored mucus. it could have developed into a bacterial sinus infection, for which you will need help from a doctor. An untreated bacterial infection of any kind has the potential to kill you. This probably won’t, but get to a doctor.

Whenever a cold begins to keep a patient from eating or sleeping, most likely it is because the cold may have turned into an infection. When fever is involved it almost always means that you have an infection somewhere (unless its a virus). Judging from your symptoms, you have a sinus infection. I have had them chronic for years and finally got sinus surgery. It was the best!! I also took Sudafed once and was hospitalized with an impending heart attack. It raises your blood pressure immensly! Get to your doctor and get an antibiotic in you. Don’t suffer. It might take several days still until you are feeling better.
